Homemaking tips for managing the modern, busy family!
Homemaking and raising your family is an incredibly demanding job - 7 days a week. Do you ever feel like you're losing your marbles? It is demanding, physically and mentally, and yet can be very rewarding. Your accomplishments will not result in kudos from your boss or a year-end bonus but in the happiness of your family and the sense of security and well-being that your children feel.
Responsibilities can include, but are never limited to:
Caring for the children
Menu Planning and Meal Preparation
Housekeeping
Gardening and Lawn Maintenance
Decorating
Laundry
Shopping
Simple home maintenance
Organizing
Entertaining
Planning family trips
Finding time to spend with your spouse
Finding time for YOURSELF
And anything else that comes up in any given day...
If you are VERY lucky you may have some help in these areas but many times that help is you and only you.
I'm a stay-at-home mom with 3 young boys. Until recently I worked full-time and "outsourced" most of this stuff but....circumstances and priorities change. However, it is surprising how many of the skills I applied in an office setting still apply when running a home. In fact, even if you hire someone to clean your home, maintain your gardens, etc. this information is still essential! You can't expect someone else to meet your standards if you don't define your expectations.
Even though I was successful in my career I found myself very much out of touch with many of the skills employed in homemaking. I eventually figured things out the hard way and learned some painful lessons, to say the least. It is still a daily challenge but at the end of the day if I've completed my list of "To Do's" and my family is still intact, and happy, then I feel satisfied and know that I've done my job. I am still learning, of course, but I love to share the lessons I've learned.
At Modern-Homemaking.com, I've compiled some of the best homemaking information that I hope will help you achieve your goals. We are not all striving to be Martha Stewart!. I do not believe in setting impossible and unrealistic goals. Why do that to yourself?
